Just a quick (qwik) brewing demonstration in today’s article, featuring the Qwikbrew by Marco. In this video, we’re testing the Qwikbrew with a 3 litre batch of filter coffee using 180 grams of coarsely ground.

The Qwikbrew is a commercial-sized filter coffee brewer and hot water boiler boasting speed, ease of use and consistency. There’s no customisable recipes or adjustable brew temperatures here, just a simple user experience towards serving great coffee.

Brewing with the Marco Qwikbrew

Brewing large batches of coffee is made very simle with the Qwikbrew. Featuring just three buttons, the Qwikbrew will help you produce either a one, three, or five litre batch of filter coffee with total ease.

The brew basket houses the filter paper and coffee, with hot water pouring over the grounds in one continuous pour. The coffee will then flow down into the brew basin, first passing through a metal mesh filter to catch any coffee grounds that may have found their way through the basket. The coffee will then stay hot inside the heated basin whilst the brewer is turned on, at it is ready to dispense a full cup in a matter of seconds using the coffee tap.

The Qwikbrew is built to be incredibly easy to use, so there’s no complex menu system or much in the way of recipe customisation and temperature control. The simplicity of the Qwikbrew is likely to be a greatly attractive feature for many business for whom speed and ease of use is a top priority, though this does mean you lose out on some features found in other brewers. For a similarly priced batch brewer that can offer these customisation features, check out our review of the Marco Jet 6.

The brew ratio we’d recommend for the Qwikbrew is 60 grams per litre of brewed coffee. Each button on the Qwikbrew will provide a different volume of brew water:

  1. Three Litres
  2. Five Litres
  3. One Litre (cleaning)

So in terms of ground coffee we recommend 180g, 300g, and 60g for buttons 1, 2, and 3. The coffee should be ground fresh for best results, at a medium – coarse grind size.

View the video above for a complete demonstration on performing a brew cycle with the Qwikbrew.

How to Clean the Qwikbrew

At the end of the day, it’s important to clean the shower screen, brew basket, basin lid, and the inside of the basin to avoid build-up of coffee oils. To do this, first remove the brew basket and basin lid, and give these a quick hand wash. Make sure the basin has been emptied of brewed coffee, and then add back a litre of fresh water using brew button 3.

Add a spoonful of espresso cleaning powder to the basin, and use a soft brush to clean off any grounds and oils. Empty the cleaning liquid through the coffee tap, then hit button three again to rinse and drain the basin with a final batch of clean water.

Who is the Qwikbrew for?

This brewer is targeted towards those that need speed, efficiency, and ease of use. In our testing, it felt best suited to office kitchens, event caterers and hotels – any situation where the aesthetics and customisation of the machine are less important than just having the ability to serve coffee quickly, and and hot temperatures.

How much does the Qwikbrew Cost?

Check out our product page on the Qwikbrew for more information on the price of the Qwikbrew, as there are various models available starting from £2,400. At this price point, it’s comparable to Marco’s other large batch brewer, the Jet 6L – with additional brew recipe options and moveable coffee urns.

Whether the Qwikbrew is a good investment for your business is ultimately your decision to make, but we can say that it is a very capable commercial brewer that may suit some businesses incredibly well. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch -> contact us.
